Greetings all my fellow Rotarians

Hi to you all.   I trust you are all doing the right things and staying safe.  Thank you to all of you who responded to my email and also to Pauline’s.  I want to clarify a couple of points from the questions received from people by either of us.

Pauline and I are in many times daily discussions and keeping up with directives as they happen. Some may have misinterpreted when I said The Deck. The Deck is the actual name given to the function space upstairs by the hotel.  It includes both the indoor and outdoor spaces. It was never our intention to be meeting in the outdoor space.

The hotel is following guidelines on how far apart people can be seated.  Those who meet will be choosing from our normal four choices of individually served main courses and will be served at tables indoors, albeit with less people per table. Please respond to Pauline if you are attending ASAP to help our decision making.

As I said earlier, the meeting will be informal discussion on whether we continue to meet in person or whether to have Zoom meetings or suspend all at the moment.  We will also be looking at ways we can help others as Rotarians, possibly in conjunction with other organisations such as Meals on Wheels or The Hut.

I shall also summarise for those who have not seen some of the emails from Rotary International or our club.
  1. The D9520 conference is cancelled
  2. Our Small Acreage Field Days is postponed for 12 months to a suitable time.
  3. International Conference in Honolulu is cancelled
  4. District Assembly in May is postponed
  5. Club meetings can continue but must follow guidelines on numbers and spacing.  People must always make a choice whether they attend or not.  No compulsion.
  6. At the moment our Sculpture Exhibition is still going ahead albeit with some modifications. We are monitoring daily.
On a brighter note, last Monday evening a number of people attended a talk by Mike Bennett at his home in Woorabinda Drive Stirling.

Mike has three quite rare Lotus vehicles and is an enthusiast with great knowledge of the founders and the history of the company.  He gave us a most interesting talk before unveiling each of his three amazing vehicles. I will let the photographs do the talking.

Mike Bennett proudly displays his Lotus collection, featuring one driven by the
legendary, Graham Hill OBE who won the Formula 1 Grand Prix four times
and is the only driver ever to win the Triple Crown of Motorsport—
the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix.

A few of the Rotary "rev heads" who enjoyed the visit.

At the meeting which followed, Greg gave information about the SAFD decision to postpone and Tim Boon and Jan Lyon filled us in on the Sculpture Exhibition which had attracted a record number of exhibits and was still expected to proceed.

A Board meeting followed the regular meeting. Board meeting Minutes may always be accessed as a downloaded file on our club website in the members section for all who wish to know more.  Minutes of the March meeting last week will be posted shortly.

At the meeting, Dan wore his ShelterBox hat briefly, to present to the Rotary Club of Stirling, a Bronze Champion Award which was accepted on behalf of the club by President Susanne.

The certificate was to have been presented to the club at the Annual Conference
which has sadly, but understandably, been cancelled.

The club also received a certificate of appreciation from the Australia Day Committee of the Ranges Ward of the Adelaide Hills Council.  Thanks to all who helped out!

We are doing all we can to keep you informed so please read what we impart to you in summarised form!!

I look forward to seeing all those who are able on Monday.  Let Pauline know today if possible.

Yours in Rotary
Susanne Marie   President

The Four Way Test
Of all the things we think, say and do

Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Please support the Friends of Rotary the way they support us!
