Another very productive Committee Night on Monday. There was a good "buzz" in the room as Committee members met formally to discuss their various projects and then enjoyed a good meal together afterwards. Feedback is that seating in teams has contributed to team building and thoughtful discussion about the way forward.
Neil is taking some well earned time out and we all look forward to welcoming him back with open arms (or elbow bumps) in the beginning of October. In the meantime, all joined John Norris in extending to Neil our warm best wishes and thanks for his efforts to make the club and the community better places.
District 9510 Governor David and Lyn's visit
Next week is a BIG week for the club! Not only will we be celebrating our 46th anniversary as a chartered club (13 September, 1974) but DG David and Lyn Jones will be joining us on Monday. This is a Partners Night so please make a special effort to attend and to welcome David and Lyn to Stirling.
A reminder to the Board, DG David will be meeting with you in The Deck from 5:00pm.
Don't forget, the Virtual Zone 8 Conference is being held from 11:00am to 12:30pm on Saturday and Sunday, 19 and 20 September.
PDG Dick and Liz Wilson have cordially invited members and partners to view the proceedings together at Bickles Road, Summertown on Saturday or Sunday or both. Lunch will be served afterwards but please bring your own drinks and nibbles. Please let Dick know if you will be attending and when.
If you have never been to a major Rotary Convention, this is your opportunity to be a part of one such extraordinary event. If you are not going to Dick's, everyone should nevertheless register to attend from home, and, unless you plan to attend at Dick's on BOTH days, you will regret not being registered for the second day if you only go one day. There is no cost to register, a saving of thousands of dollars on the usual cost to attend a regional Conference! Here is the link to register.
Our Gardeners Have Been VERY Busy!
Pauline extends a HUGE thank you to all who played a part in our club's response to the SA Bushfire Garden Revival Project. Pauline and Ken needed every centimetre of their newly extended deck to accommodate all the plants before happily sending them off to Kersbrook. Victims of the bushfires earlier this year are able to attend an Open Day on Saturday 12th September to select as many plants as they want to restore their destroyed gardens.
A great initiative, Pauline. Thanks for your leading this project and a big shout out to everyone who contributed plants, helped the repotting or handled the delivery.
Budding Thespians Take Note!
Many of you would have been aware that Veronica, a master wordsmith, was working on a play. The work, Holy Clappers has now been completed and is ready for a trial read through. She has announced a casting call for Rotary members to take on a role, at this stage, for a trial only, before the play can be released or performed.
Click here to download a copy of the Synopsis of the play and a list of characters. Have a read and call or write to Veronica to discuss the play and how you might support her.
Who knows? Maybe we could put it on for families and friends as a social event? Or better yet, maybe it could end up as a fundraiser! Is a cinema release out of the question?
This is a great opportunity for all those who may once have aspired to perform!
