On Monday (a Partners Night) we were privileged to learn from Dr Ann Herraman, President of the Mt Lofty Districts Historical Society, something about the history of Stirling. She made the point that the Historical Society is not a museum but its object is to uncover, preserve and protect the photos and documents illustrating the founding and development of the towns and institutions of the area. It was an entertaining and informative talk, embellished with vivid descriptions of the people and times.
Dr Herraman is seen here with John Osborne holding a copy
of our Charter granted 13 September 1974
Of particular interest to members was the offer to help us write the history of the club for our upcoming 50th Anniversary. She also invited us to become partners with other organisations involved in fulfilling the vision of a Pavilion for the Stirling Oval (see the rough sketch below).
Meeting Next Monday
Our special guest next week is Simon Jones, President of the Stirling Business Association. Already working together in a number of ways, both the club and the SBA are keen to explore further synergies.
Wine Bottling
Our Cellarmaster, Colin, oversaw the bottling operation on a cold and wet Sunday last week. He assembled a team of enthusiastic amateurs to bottle 50 dozen cases of a superb COVID 2020 Barossa Shiraz. Happily, there was very little wastage because all profits go toward funding the club's operations. Purchased cases are available for pick up from Colin..
Our thanks to the intrepid team of volunteers including Ron, Robert K, Ken J, Alan, Colin, Rob and Ken J. Not in the picture were Dan and Pauline who was on UBER Eats duties to keep the team performing at maximum capacity.
