Hat Night

We were very fortunate to have Chris (Savvy) Savill as our guest speaker (and Hat Judge) on Monday night, to talk about Mental Health and how each of us can make a difference help those in need.

Savvy, the Mt Barker Citizen of the Year 2020 and Ambassador for RU OK?, proved to be an engaging, enthusiastic and informed advocate for mental health.  He taught us to be alert, how to recognise the signs that someone is experiencing difficulties and how a simple, but sincere, "Are You OK?" can start the process of opening up to ask for help.

Members wore colourful  head coverings of all types, often with wonderful stories they shared with all. Savvy even got into the swing of things to judge the Best Hat-Male, Best Hat-Female and Best Hat-Story.  There were some tough choices but no one had any issues with the final selections!

The new menu that Pauline has negotiated with the hotel also proved to be a big success and capped off a great night!

Monday's meeting - October 19

This week we will be having presentations from three of our Community Grant recipients - Bernadette Reading and Geoff Keynes from The Hut Community Shed, Margie Sarre - Principal of Uraidla Primary School and Peter Weddell from the Adelaide Hills Social Club. It promises to be an interesting evening finding out what our grant money has helped them achieve.

Movie Night, 23 October

Another reminder that Pauline will be finalisng bookings on Monday for movie Night on Friday. She will also be collecting any donations for the raffle - clean out your cupboards of nice but not needed items.

Tickets cost just $22 and include a drink/Fruchocs and THREE raffle Tickets!  Click the image to view the trailer staring two of Australia's most lived actors.

The Four Way Test
Of all the things we think, say and do

Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Please support the Friends of Rotary the way they support us!
