The colder and wetter conditions did not dampen our spirits for the non-bonfire night as reported here. I am looking forward to our joint meeting with our daughter club, Onkaparinga next week.
Please note the Stirling Hotel is not available to us on Monday 5/12, committee meetings. Michelle is looking at alternatives and we will discuss what we can do. Please look out for more info in the near future from Michelle regarding that meeting.
I do hope those that have had no power for the past week have had it returned. An inconvenience to us here but does put other people’s plight in perspective, which highlights our (Rotary) purpose to helping our community.
There are a few things happening running up to Christmas, so please look out for those and register to be part of them.
Enjoy the better days when they arrive. Stay safe and well.

Imagine a Bonfire....
While there was no bonfire, nobody noticed!
PDG Dick and Liz ensured that there was plenty of good food, plenty of good wine and warm fellowship on an otherwise cold and wet night.
President Malcom welcomed all and thanked our hosts and all who helped
make the dinner the great success it was.
Meanwhile in the Private Dining Room... Michelle Lesiw hosted AG Shiralee Judge,
a good friend of the club
President Malcolm encouraged all to attend next week's joint meeting with the Onkaparinga club next Wednesday, although the deadline for registration was fast approaching.
Upcoming Meetings
There will be no meeting on Monday; deferred until the joint meeting on Wednesday.
It starts...
2023 is going to be an exciting year for us with an opportunity to attend the Rotary International Convention held in Melbourne and an opportunity to meet Rotary International’s first female President Jennifer Jones.
And then back in Adelaide, for the District Showcase Expo and Conference Celebration Dinner.
Anyone who has ever been to an International Convention will tell you that the experience is unforgettable and life-changing,,,and this one is going to be very special and on our own turf!
Put these events in your calendar NOW!
Only in America...
...but don;t try this at home!
George Phillips, an elderly man from Walled Lake, Michigan, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me."
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy, you should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available".
George said, "Okay." He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both; the dogs are eating them right now," and he hung up.
Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, the K-9 team, Paramedic and two Ambulances showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
