Last Week's Meeting

There was a good "vibe" in the air as we met in Committees to plan for the rest of the Rotary year.

Following the meeting, President Stephen communicated to all the Area 10 Presidents about holding a joint Clay Pigeon Shooting event in Monarto.  There being enough interest to proceed, President Stephen will begin liaising with President James Hawker of the RC of Mt Barker and PP Dick Wilson to plan the event.

President Stephen then met with Simon Jones, Chair of the Stirling Business Association to discuss closer cooperation between the two organisations, and, in particular, the proposed Piccadilly Pub Crawl in support of the Pavilion for the Stirling Oval. . The SBA has confirmed its strong support of the proposal. As reported last week, Rosanna Hurren, the Pavilion architect, will be a guest speaker at a joint meeting of the SBA and our club on 28 February.

The interim committee formed to progress the Piccadilly Pub Crawl includes President Stephen, Greg, Nic, Mark and Malcolm. To get the ball rolling,, it was agreed to identify and approach the key stakeholders; the publicans of the pubs involved (The Stirling, Uraidla, Crafers, Stanley Bridge, Bridgewater and perhaps, the Aldgate Pump Hotels) and the Adelaide Hills Council. President Stephen will prepare a briefing document to support the proposal.

Heyson Trail Trek for Australian Rotary Health.

Di Clements, District Chair of ARH has written to the club looking for volunteers to host a (non Rotarian) Trekker) passing through the area in September while raising money for Australian Rotary Health.

It would involve picking one or two people up from the daily finish, hosting them overnight and then delivering them to the restart line the following morning. It may be that a joint BBQ or dinner might be provided  by participating clubs for the 12 or so walkers.

If you would like to help out, please let President Stephen know.

What is Rotary?

Thanks to the Rotary Club of San Francisco West who produces these fantastic memes/posters. This one is a timely reminder of our purpose.

A Blast From the Past

In 1961, a song was released by The Marcels.

60 years later, in 2021, current and former members of the group reunited and a full house turned out to watch and listen to these guys; the originals then well into their 80s. Their reward was a standing ovation.

It is Said There is No Greater Love...

Here's again is something nostalgic, but more reflective.  You will want to have your speakers turned up a bit to hear this beautiful piece performed by Nana Mouskouri.

The Four Way Test
Of all the things we think, say and do

Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Please support the Friends of Rotary the way they support us!
